New Week, Big Changes

This upcoming week ends with a puente (long weekend). Although this should be amazing, I know that I am going to focus so intently on this no-work-Friday, that the week will drag out a lot. Plus, I feel that there is going to be a lot of drama at Colegio Alkor.

After a huge round of fights with our employers, there will be staff changes for the natives at Colegio Alkor. I'm attempting to be optimistic about the new person coming in, but at the same time? I'm nervous. I'm nervous about coordinating the new teacher, I'm nervous about getting a new schedule. I'm just a nervous person. If I do stay here next year, I will be working with the older kids. (Well, Primary, I think.)

I went out both Friday and Saturday this week. I haven't done this in so long, as I typically force myself that I am old and can't do it. It was nice to go out for both days and stay out until 6 in the morning. Today, I didn't want to do ANYTHING. (Actually, that's a lie, because I craved pizza so intently I can't possibly describe it to you.) Next weekend should be eventful too. Jess is turning 23 and Luis is turning 26, so we are going to go out ALL of Friday and ALL of Saturday. Plus, I am going to do my best to rally for a Thursday club-bourbon club-joy night. I love getting pictures with the drag queens....the costumes are just amazing.

My next classes seem to be a lot more work. We have assigned readings and homework to complete before we even meet for class. However, its good. I'm going to learn a lot, and maybe even learn how to be a teacher. Ya know what I realized last night in conversation? Student Teachers aren't paid. So, no matter how bad my salary is (and its livable), I am still doing so much better than I would be in America. Plus, my level of Spanish has improved so much...I am pleased with this experience.

At least 3 of my friends are applying to this program. I really hope that they get in and can come over. They accepted about 45% of people last year, and I hope that all of my friends are able to actually get this experience.

  1. Your post makes me crave pizza. And it made me look at the program application ...
